The Time Travelers Wife

SUMMARY;

 THE MIDDLE

March 1994 : 

          Henry(30 year-old) and Claire(22 year-old) have moved into a two bedroom flat, with the new routine , a married life . The have both discovered each others annoying flaws , she finds her self with a certain amount of space  for her art work. She feels as if her are ideas are growing smaller , she is affected on the way Henry appears and disappears. When Henry returns he feels as if Claire pushes him out of her world. Claire only has so much going on. Wednesday, April 13, 1994: To Claire's(22 year-old) surprise, Henry(30 year-old) returns with a small, TV. Henry tells Claire to turn the t.v. on he gives her a lottery ticket , they end up winning $8 million. Claire claims that they can not accept the money. As Henry burns the paper she changes her mind. Henry and Claire go house shopping , he tells her that he has seen their dream house in one of his travels. She asks him if she can go house shopping alone , she eventually finds the right house.They move into their new home.One of Henry's and Claire's friend might be in love with Claire his name is Gomez. Henry and Claire invite Gomez and his wife Charisse over to play monopoly that Gomez and Charisse have made , as they are playing they hear a crash in the kitchen. It's old Henry , he has fallen broken a glass he is bleeding. Claire tells them she wants to call an ambulance present Henry tells her he will disappear old Henry does disappear. 

Wednesday, March 8, 1995: 

           Henry(31 year-old)  is hiding while Matt a friend of Henry runs into him, Matt isn't surprised he knows about Henry , but doesn't care because he is a good librarian. At the Newberry Library, there's a locked stairwell no one can get in it , out of it , you can get stuck , it is called "The Cage". Henry fears that he can get stuck on one of his time travels. Henry appears to be on the floor in the Newbeary Library Staff Room , he has a black eye and cannot find his clothes. He is caught naked by another staff member. 

Spring 1996: 

          Two years into their marriage, Claire(24 year-old) wishes for a baby everyday more and more. Henry(32 year-old) isn't happy, what if his disorder is inherited to the baby. Claire dosnt like to thin about the difficultiness she just wants a baby.Claire tells Henry that part of him will stay with her while he is on his time travels that part would be the baby. He likes the idea of that. 

Spring 1996: 

           At the eight week of her pregnancy Claire(24 year-old) has a miscarriage. Claire calls Charisse to take her to the hospital because Henry(32 year-old) is of on his time travels and Claire has intensely bleeding. Henry arrives when it is all over.Henry is pt in a lab to sleep a scientist will study him and his brain while he is in a time travel , he has vivid dreams. 

Sunday, October 12, 1997:

       Henry(34 year-old) wakes up to the smell of blood because Claire(26 year-old) has had a second miscarriage. Henry  and Claire are overjoyed when they find out by the doctor that they are studying Henry's condition and that they might find a cure for his time traveling. 

Wednesday, August 12, 1998: 

            Claire(27 year-old) gets the last moments to be with her mother before cancer surrenders her body.Henry(35 year-old) behind to remember how much Claire's mother loved her garden , and how much she loved them both. He sees Claire angry shutting Henry out of her world. Claire behind to look at her dead mothers belongings . She finds many poems one dedicated to her. It showed Claire that her mother did love her after all. 

Saturday, March 13, 1999:

                  Henry(35 year-old)  and Clare(27 year-old) visit their friends Charisse and Gomez, they just have had their third child.Since Claire loves holding Charisse's babies Charisse ask Henry if he would like to carry the baby he gets scared panics and steps outside. Henry realizes that his father never held him like that. Henry tells Gomez on how they have had three miscarriage's so far , Gomez response is that they seem as if they don't care. 

Wednesday, July 21, 1999/September 8, 1998:

                       Daily discussions about their miscarriages put a strain on Henry(36 year-old)  and Clare's(28 year-old) marriage. Hnery suggest adoption but Claire wants it to be their baby their blood. She is sick of being seen as normal. He blames himself because of them not being able to have babies. He never saw himself with a baby in the future. Henry finds himself in Mrs.Kim's kitchen. When Mrs. Kim asks Henry about them having babies he ask her the same question. She tells him that she had a daughter but she dies at seven years-old he then starts to remember her , Claire finds her self at the pier surrounded my cops, and media because a cop told her he had seen Henry jumping off the pier. Hnery climbs back up from the water and claims that he only went for a swim.  Claire and Henry are informed by the doctor that the time traveling mice had been made , but that there were not many because the mothers and the babies kept on dying and when the wrong drugs were given they were dying. Claire ask for the drugs then realizes that the mothers and babies were dying.Five miscarriage's have gone by.

Saturday, June 3, 2000 :

            Back in the present, Henry(36 year-old) tells Clare(29 year-old) that he won't keep trying to have a baby, because Clare's life is more important to him. While waiting in the doctor Henry is tense, When he gets called he time travels back to when Claire was sixteen he tells her that in the future he will hurt her but for her own good.Claire ask him why he just kisses her roughly. Later on in the present they are at dinner and Claire tell Henry on how she know that he has vasectomy.

September 2000:

 Clare(29 year-old) is tortured by nightmares about babies.She goes to her studio draws the heart of her baby boy , and begins to think if he comes out to soon he can die , she wakes up in the hospital and the baby is dead.Sunday, October 12, 2003 Clare(32 year-old)admits to herself that she enjoys Henry's (40 year-old) absence. 

Thursday, February 10, 2005:

                     Clare(33 year-old) is working in her studio when Henry(41 year-old) returns from his travels. Claire tells Henry how much she missed him and how that is one of the bet days of her life. She went out with a couple of guys , but didn't like it , she slept with Gomez and didn't want to tell Henry.  When Henry wonders what she's thinking, she asks him if he worries that everything really great in their life has already happened. Henry responds that he likes the painful moments just as much as he likes the real moments . His concession causes Clare to share her secret. Henry forgives her. Clare recalls the morning she woke up in bed with Gomez , Clare feels awful. Claire tells Gomez about Henry but he dosnt believe her , she shows him a picture and he refuses to accept the truth. Claire tells Gomez she can't be with him, because he's with Charisse and she's with Henry. Problems begin between the couples.

Monday, December 18, 2006/Sunday, January 2, 1994 (Henry is 43):

               Henry(43 year-old) wakes up from the pain in his legs. He's lying on someone's floor and it's Ingrid's apartment.in grid isn't please to see him but she isn't surprised.Henry remembers that that is the day Ingrid is going to commit suicide he begs her to take care of her self but she doesn't forgive him for leaving her. Henry tells ingrid about how he is married and has a daughter. Ingrid killed herself after Henry told her he did love her she called him a liar and shot herself.

Sunday, December 31, 2006:

               Henry( 43 year-old) and Claire(53 year-old) throw a New Year's party at their house. The party is with their nearest and dearest , when Henry realizes today is the day he his life will end.Henry thanks Gomez for everything he's done. Gomez senses something bad , that is when Henry tells him his life will end that day.Claire looks for Henry and is told that he is in the front porch. Henry tells her it is time they hug and kiss, while everyone celebrates New Years. 

THE END

Saturday, October 27, 1984/Monday, January 1, 2007:

              Henry(43 year-old) falls to the ground just after he's been shot by Mark's rifle. Henry  calls out for Claire(35 year-old). He is lying in the living room Claire's all over him , and Gomez calls the Police.

Friday, February 2, 2007 (Clare is 35):

          Without Henry, Clare just spends her days sleeping.  Alba Claire's daughter is taken care of by Mrs.Kim. Claire has trouble looking at her daughter, because she reminds her so much of Henry.Claire retrieves a letter from Henry out of his desk. He tells her that their love was the only thing he ever trusted in his life and that his love for her will never end. Henry tells her that  he doesn't want her to suffer like his father did after his wife died.Henry reveals to Claire that they will see each other in the future he dosnt know when all he knows is that it will be when she is an old woman.

Saturday, July 12, 2008 (Clare is 37): 

                    Claire(37 year-old)  arrives at Gomez's house, and waits for Charisse to return from roller-skating with Alba and her kids. Gomez tells Claire that she has to stop waiting for Henry and start dating , she replies with that she's not interested.When Gomez kisses her she sleeps with him imaging its Henry who she is having sex with. Charisse and the kids almost walk in on them. Claire's mind tells her she is a travel because she's becoming something else. Charisse and Clare937 year-old) take the kids out to eat at a restaurant. Claire reveals to Charisse that Henry has returned to see Alba, but not her. After partying, Henry and Ingrid are looking for their car. They are drunk. Ingrid sees a little girl and ask if she needs help the little girl says she is waiting for her dad and she is okay , but she points at their car. Henry (42 year-old) and Alba play in the sand at Lighthouse Beach. Alba is a time traveler too. Bothe her and her dad the travel together. 

Thursday, December 4, 2008:

              Claire(37 year-old) enters her art studio after two years, she makes a self portrait she realizes that it will be more real , because it will be around when she isn't , after she dies. 

Thursday, July 24, 2053: 

        Henry(43 year-old) finds himself in a dark hallway of an unknown house, he sees an old lady through the window its Claire(82 year-old).Monday, July 14, 2053 (Clare is 82): Clare reflects on her morning, going through her usual routine, waiting. She doesn't know when Henry is coming , but it dosnt matter she is there he will come.

THOUGHTS;

 I think this book is really nice and interesting by far , the best book I have ever read. I really liked it a lot i think this is a good book.  

BEST PARTS;

The best part to me was when they are getting married he doesn't look to good but Claire still loves him for who he is. That is my favorite part because Claire could be with a better guy but the one she wants is Henry she doesn't care what is going on with him she is happy with him. They make such a nice couple.The wedding is the best part.   

Another good part was when the daughters is born. Alba Claire and Henry finally get to have a baby after do many tries and miscarriage's.Alba is born to be a real pretty girl like her mother.

FAVORITE CHARACTER;

My favorite character is Grandma Grandma Meagram, she isn't a big character in the story but she is important during the middle. I like the grandma because she is funny , she helps Claire to get Henry to propose sooner. Although the grandma is blind she can sense things no one in the book can. The grandma has no shame in saying anything. 

ANTAGONIST;

Henry's dad was an antagonist he was always against everything , even his own son. The dad never agreed on anything he was always against most people. He dissed his own son. He was an alcoholic he always was doing things he wasn't suppose to. He would forget to pay his rent many times.

 SUMMARY: 

Saturday, October 26 1991 

      Clare Absuire a 20 year-old art student and Henry DeTamble a 28 year-old librarian met in a Library in Chicago. She finds herself seeking for help in a library in Chicago to find her self face-to-face with Henry , claims that she knows him since she was 6. She is overjoyed to see him. Henry doesn't remember her , he ends up agreeing  to go out to dinner with her. While at dinner Claire tells Henry that she knows about his time traveling disorder. She tells Henry that they met when she was a young 6 year-old girl , in Lake Michigan, not far from her family home. She shows him a diary that holds all dates for his visits. Henry feels overwhelmed by all this information, but also finds himself very attracted to her. She talks to him about of the time they have already spent together, from when she was a little girl, to a teenager, to a young woman. He asks Clare to pretend that this is a normal first date between two normal people. Claire tells henry about her family , Henry does the same. Henry invites Claire up to his bachelor pad. After dinner, Henry invites Clare up to his place. On the way, Henry buys some alcohol and Clare reminds him that Dr. Kendrick advised him to not drink. Henry was confused he didn't know who Dr.Kendrick was. Claire then explains that he is Henry's doctor in the future. Dr.Kendrick is the man who will discover why people are Chrono-Impaired – the clinical term for Henry's time-hopping condition. Up in his apartment they end up kissing, which leads them to making love to each other.

Sunday, June 1968

        Henry recalls on the magic he felt the first time he time traveled. For his fifth birthday, his parents  took him to the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. Later that night, he suddenly pops back in time to the museum. A 24 year-old version of Henry starts guiding himself through the first experience.   Older Henry explains Younger Henry that he has a time traveler and his time travels must remain secrets.  During Henry's teenage years, his older version teaches him time travelers' tricks of survival, including stealing, breaking and entering, and running from the police.Little Henry pops back to Older Henry and tells his mother about his "wonderful dream". 

September 23, 1977

       The narration jumps to the first time 43-year-old Henry meets 6-year-old Clare in a meadow, not far from her family's house on Lake Michigan. Henry calls out to six-year-old Claire from behind a bush because he is naked. She gets scared and throws a shoe at him, he explains that he means no harm to her. She throws her picnic blanket to him, he covers up. Henry tells Claire about how he is a time traveler and he can't take anything with him because then the world would be a big mess. he asks little Claire to bring him clothes the next time they meet, and to keep their encounter a secret. On the date given, Clare waits for Henry with old clothes from her dad. When he shows up, Clare warms up to Henry and tells him that she now believes his story. Claire told one of her friends "Ruth" but she didn't believe her, Henry explains to her that many people won't believe. Little Claire tells Henry that she believes him.

Thursday, June 7, 1973

         Older Henry (27 year-old) and Younger Henry (9 year-old) visit the Art Institute of Chicago where older Henry teaches younger Henry more techniques about survival while time traveling. 27 year-old Henry has already realized that a time traveler must value his survival over his morals, but still feels bad about corrupting his younger self. Young Henry begins to wonder why they can't time travel together. At the same time, older Henry advises younger Henry that he needs to live as though he has free will and is also responsible for his actions, because if he doesn't, he'll be miserable.

Sunday, September 23, 1984 

        Henry (35 year-old) and Claire (13 year-old) meat again this time Henry had been sleeping only to wake up to Claire right by his side. She had left clothes and snacks in a box . Henry begins to tell Claire about her future. She begins to wonder if her future will happen because Henry said so or begins that was her destiny.They begin to discuss about God. raised as a good catholic girl Claire believes in a Universe were life happens through the hands of God. The randomness of his time-traveling disorder has made Henry an agnostic. His believes are that life is random and meaningless. Clare insists that she wants to have God in her universe. Henry knows that being with him will change her mind in the future.

Saturday, October 27, 1984

            Clare(13 year-old) wakes up to Henry(43 year-old) calling her name. Only to find her brother and father outside dressed in hunting gear with another man. She then realizes that Henry is in a distance waving at her, she then gets a feeling that something has happened. Henry was that other man. 

Friday, June 5, 1987

        Claire(16 year-old) just got her drivers license and will be driving to her friends party which she invites Henry(32 year-old) to he doesn’t think it’s a good idea because they must remain a secret. Claire is tired of keeping it a secret he agrees to go but will wait for her in the car. Henry was still waiting in the car one of Claire’s friends goes to the car and starts to talk to him about being Claire’s boyfriend. Both Claire and Henry deny that he is her boyfriend.Claire drives of like a crazy person, she then begins to speed and Henry tells her how he is afraid of car accidents because he was in an accident when he was younger. 

Thursday, January 13,2000

          Henry(36 year-old) goes into Claire's (28 year-old) studio. He finds that she has trimmed drawings from the bottom. She then explains that she thought they would never meet again. She cut it because she thought they might never meet in the future because she insisted on testing time. 

Saturday, December 24, 1988
          It's Christmas Eve ,  Henry(40 year-old) has some food and reading material for Claire(27 year-old) he is waiting up at the reading room at Meadowlark House. It has been nine years since his other dies.He reflects on his various travels , when his mother was still alive. Henry was remembering his mother becoming a rising star on the opera scene when Clare enters. She wishes him "Merry Christmas," but Henry isn't in the mood. Henry tells Claire about this accident he had when he was 6 years-old with his mother, a car accident. He didn't die because of his time traveling. Henry and his mother were on their way to the airport to pick up his father. He travels to that moment often. He blames himself for his mother's death. 

Saturday, December 24, 1988: 
            It's Christmas Eve and Henry(25 year-old) is all alone. His father doesn't want to be with him and his friends are with their families he buys a bottle of Schnapps. Henry wanders the streets of Chicago with no direction. While he is having dinner at the Berghoff, a warm, cozy family restaurant he wanders about death. He starts to think about his mother and on how dead people shall be remembered. He heads out to a lounge "Get Me High" and ordered a whisky.  A few drinks later, Henry passes out and has to be taken to the hospital. He is asked if he has a death wish he replies with a "yes". 

Saturday, April 8, 1989 : 
            Clare is hanging out with Grandma Meagram . Henry gave her a dates list which made  Claire realize it will be a 2 years until she sees Henry again.They both realize how much they like each other. She goes out on a walk with the grandmother and Henry pops out of no where. Claire's grandmother is blind but she can feel Henry's presence, so Claire introduces him as the friend Henry who she told her grandma about. Grandma ask if she can touch Henry's face , as she does she concludes that he isn't a boy. Grandma tell Henry that he has promised to marry Claire but he hasn't proposed neither has he asked to meet her parents. Henry tells grandma he will but in time he then disappears Claire explains his situation to grandma she concludes that he is a bad husband. 

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, December 24, 25, 26,1991:
               Henry(28 year-old) and Claire(20 year-old) are on their way to Meadowlark House to celebrate Christmas with Claire's family. He is nervous about meeting her family in "real time". Claire feels better with present Henry.Stress seems to be the number one trigger for his time traveling. Running, meditation, and sex help him to stay in the present. Most of the time when he time travels it's about his past not his future. He likes it better that way. As soon as they get to Claire's house the housekeeper and the cook welcome the couple. Claire shows Henry her room he is yet to feel nothing because he knows nothing. They are separated by how they are given different rooms. At lunch time he meets the rest of the family including the parents. Henry is asked about his parents. Everyone is awed to find out that his father is a renowned violinist and that his mother was the famous singer Annette DeTamble. Henry is told that he will be fed well because he is too thin. Claire and Henry go to the meadow where they first met , but Henry dosnt remember it. r room. At night, the entire family is attending Catholic mass, he feels uncomfortable  because the last time he was at a church was because of his moms death. The last time he attended a religious service was for his mother's death. During the sermon he went to the restroom he thought he was going to time travel because of stress. He prays to god and ask him to let him stay but he suddenly disappears and reappears again to t he church were Claire had been waiting.

Sunday, May 24, 1992 :
          Claire(21 year-old) and Henry (28 year-old) have been having a lot of sexual inter course. She stops him because she thinks its too much. Henry then pops the question and ask her to marry him. She replies whit a yes. 

Sunday, September 5, 1993 :
             Claire ( 22 year-old) is afraid that on their wedding day Henry (30 year-old) will disappear. Henry considers drugs. Claire refuses because she believes he isn't sick , he tells her how in love he is with her because she has the ability to adore his awful flaws. He does end up taking drugs later on in the week. He is found lying on the floor by Claire she tells him on how he shall not take no more drugs he agrees. 

Saturday, May 9, 1992:
              Henry(28 year-old)  ask his father for his marriage rings so he can give them to claire when he purposes. He is informed that his dad hasn't been doing to well.  Drinking too much alcohol has made him incapable of playing the cello.Henry tells his father he will purpose to Claire his father replies with "who would marry you?".  Henry begins to describe Claire. He tells him on how his mother would have liked it for Claire to have the wedding rings and o how he has been time traveling to her. He tells his father how he wished he would have met him when he was happy with Henry's mother. His dad warms up and gives him the wedding rings. 

Saturday, October 23, 1993 :
                Both Henry(30 year-old) and Claire(22 year-old) panic on their wedding day. Henry prats ask ask god to let him stay. Claire is freaked out by a dream she had , she was a mermaid and she couldn't marry Henry. Henry goes for a run to calm down while Claire is worried that her stylist will do something hideous to her hair or face. Before the wedding Henry and Claire find themselves having sex. As Henry is putting his tuxedo he finds himself being 38 year-old Henry , walking down Highway 12 , two miles away from Claire's hometown. At a gas station he sees the days paper and starts to run home to Claire. Claire is ready surrounded by her bridesmaids. Henry makes it as he is walking down the aisle he realizes that he is in older version Henry dirt and unshaved but it doesn't matter because he gets a triumphant smile from Claire. For a while Henry travels back in time to his old room during his wedding. He comes back and finds himself saying his vows with and exchanging rings with Claire. 

MY OPINON:

                  So far my opinion on this book is that is is very interesting it is also sad. This book is interesting because of the amazing moments it talks about. The book might be long but its worth reading. This book is the meaning of AWESOME because it tells about a disorder i had need heard about. Many of the stories shared in this book can really happen to anyone, and this book teaches a lot. The Time Travelers Wife is interesting, amusing, amazing, and a sad book. 

PREDICTIONS:

                 I think that in the middle or the end Claire and Henry will end up Married. They will end up having a real nice and healthy relationship. They will end up being a couple. Eventually people will find out about Henry's time traveling disorder. People will realize that he isn't crazy or that Claire lies. everyone will recognize that his disorder makes him special.
